PANJIM: Commissioner of Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) Agnelo Fernandes on Wednesday appealed to the citizens of Panjim to participate in Cyclothon and cleanliness drive organized by Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd (IPSCDL) in collaboration with the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) on the World Bicycle Day and World Environment Day respectively in large number to spread awareness about the necessity to protect the environment.
“In this regard, the Cyclothon is scheduled to be held on World Bicycle Day (June 3), at 7 am which will commence from Garcia de Orta, Panjim and will be flagged off by the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane”, added the commissioner.

Adding to this, CCP Engineer Dylan Fernandes said the city of Panjim will observe World Environment Day on June 5, Sunday under the global theme of ‘Only One Earth’. He further informed that a beach cleaning drive will be held to commemorate the day. NCC cadets and Samrat Club will participate in the drive for beach cleaning, he added.
Emphasizing the need to reduce the usage of single-use plastic pollution, Dylan said CCP will launch the campaign ‘AmkaNakaPlastic’ and ‘MakaNakaPlastic’ in the Panjim Municipal Market on the World Environment Day.
