The Quepem Po lice have launched a com prehensive investigation into Saturday’s high-volt age head-on collision at Kusman involving a Mum bai-registered car occupied by Bollywood actor Ashwin Mushran and his wife. How ever, formal statements from the injured father-son duo remain on hold, as attending doctors have not yet permit ted officers to question the victims from Colmba due to the severity of their medical conditions. Nonetheless, the preliminary police panchan ama and vehicle evaluations have squarely faulted the car driver, citing excessive speed and driving on the wrong side of the road.
The crash triggered in tense public fury over al leged rash driving and “VIP entitlement”. The incident occurred at around 12:30 pm when the tourist vehicle reportedly attempted a high-speed overtak ing manoeuvre while travelling on the wrong side of the road, crashing directly into the oncoming two-wheeler. According to eyewitnesses, the father sustained deep, de bilitating fractures, leaving his leg completely mangled. He was rushed to the Goa Medical College (GMC) in Bambolim for specialised emergency surgery. His son was shifted to the South Goa District Hospital in Margao for treatment.
Onlookers and locals alleged that instead of offering im mediate medical aid to the victims, the car occupants began shouting and blaming the rider for the mishap. Local leader Amol Kanekar, along with other residents, rushed to the scene to assist the victims and directly con fronted the couple. In videos circulating widely across so cial media, locals were seen questioning the couple’s unciv ilised behaviour and their refusal to apologise to the crowd. The vehicle was temporarily blocked by residents before the driver eventually tendered an apology under public pressure. Both the damaged car and the mangled two-wheeler have been towed to the Quepem Police Station for forensic evaluation.
