VASCO: The Vasco market vendors on Tuesday complained about the state of affairs in the market and lack of basic infrastructural facilities.

The vendors asked when there are BJP MLAs and ministers in Vasco then why no development is taking place of Vasco market.

The vendors have pointed out that the market lacks basic infrastructure such as drinking water and toilet facilities, which is of utmost importance.

Some vendors also complained that the drains of the market get choked during the rainy season. This further causes water clogging and inconvenience to the customs.

One vendor also mentioned that in the past there have been theft cases in the market, there is no cleanliness. The vendors have to go the Sulabh Complex as there is no toilet facility in the market area.

Later, when contacted, Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Nandadeep Raut said, “The vendors themselves are responsible for the drains of the market to get choked as they resort to throw their left over waste on the road.”

“The vendors do not pay garbage tax and also do not maintain any hygiene,” added Raut.

“I will be conducting a site inspection of the market on Friday along with the Chief Officer to see any encroachments done by the vendors,” informed Raut.
