VASCO: Those violating the lockdown in Vasco will have to be careful from now onwards as police are all set to crackdown on the two-wheeler riders who roam around the town carelessly.

The drive, led by PI Nilesh Rane, will be implemented strictly with heavy fines and vehicles impounded.
Over 40 two-wheeler owners have been fined and their vehicles have been attached during the lockdown which came into effect last month. The impounded vehicles will have to be officially released through a court after a month, said a police source.
In a surprising move to resist ramblers from moving out in open on vehicles during lockdown, Vasco police have rolled up their sleeves and have begun a mega drive to barricade roads and prevent people from roaming aimlessly in and around the Port town.
On Monday, some people who were seen roaming aimlessly in the town, were booked under Sections 188 and 269 and were released later. However, their bikes and scooters were attached by the cops. The owners will have to wait for a month to get them released officially through the court, said a source.
So far Vasco police have attached more than 40 bikes and scooters till Monday. Police also opined that such drive will deter many road ‘Romeos’ from moving around unnecessarily during the lockdown. Vasco police are also likely to apply the same plan even for four-wheelers from Tuesday.
The source added that the Vasco police also gave masks to small children that were being taken by a few people who use the children as a shield from the police barricading
Earlier, Vasco police had provided masks to the children. They have also urged locals to avoid contacts with elderly people, children and pregnant ladies as an excuse to roam in the town.
