VASCO: The Office of Chief Electoral Officer put up a special float as part of SVEEP activity to create awareness among the electorate and to achieve 100 per cent voting for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, at the Shigmotsav float parade, in Port Town, on Friday.
When contacted one of the State icon and Public Information Officer John Aguiar informed that the Chief Electoral Officer has appointed eight State icons for the awareness and sensitisation of voting among people.
He further said that Election Commission has taken this step so that maximum number of people including youth, who will come to see float parade will get the chance to know about their voting rights and importance of voting.
When enquired about the restrictions and notifications declared by the Election Commission, he said, “They are expecting locals to vote without falling prey to any sort of temptations. Election Commission has also come up with social media awareness wherein people can take selfies and hashtag with ‘GoVote’ on April 23,” he added.
