Vasco town to get a facelift after underground cabling

VASCO: The Vasco town’s appearance would change after completing the work of laying underground cables.

A new PWD water supply pipeline, power cables and internet cables will be laid and completed before undertaking the work of beautification of the Swatantra Path road, according to Vasco MLA Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar.

After launching the work of constructing gutters and drainage at the Driver Hill, Vasco on Thursday, Salkar informed that the works of laying underground cabling in the Vasco constituency was in full swing and the first phase network would be completed before Diwali.

He said that since the town will become electricity pole-free after laying the power and internet cables, talks are on with the cable TV operators to lay the underground cables.

A meeting of cable TV operators from across the South Goa district is scheduled with the Collector, where a decision will be taken to lay TV cables underground so that the town can be spruced up.

Salkar said that the carbonised water pipelines will be laid and completed in December.
