VASCO: MMC chairperson Raut claims to make Vasco open defecation free in his term. He said he is going to utilise funds for repair work of community toilets and make all wards open defecation free.
MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut said that as per his information six wards from municipal jurisdiction are not free from open defecation. “We have got funds of Rs 3.69 crore. We have made 124 toilets functional,” he added.
He further said that the municipality will identify the non-functioning toilets and will also do repair work if needed of Sulabh facility and other community toilets from municipal area. Raut said he “will see that all wards get proper toilet facilities and people get do not face inconvenience.”
It may be recalled that last week councillor Pascoal Desouza, along with chairperson Nandadeep Raut and NCP leader Jose Philipe Dsouza, visited one ward from Vasco and inspected some community toilets which were in a dilapidated condition.
