VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council chairperson Nandadeep Raut, along with some councillors, visited biogas waste treatment plant at Sada on Friday. During inspection, Raut found out that the existing plant isn’t functioning properly due to mechanical errors in the plant. The chairperson claims that he has received a proposal of 50 tonnes capacity dry waste treatment plant which he will forward to Directorate of Municipal Administration.
While he was inspecting the plant, Raut told the media that the existing 5 tonnes biogas treatment plant isn’t functioning properly and there are mechanical errors to it.
He further stated that MMC will be acquiring a forklift and 2 more bailing machines. At present around 350 kg of dry waste gets bailed per day. Once the forklift is utilised in this area then it may increase up to 550 kg.
“I have received a proposal of a 50-tonne waste treatment plant which will treat waste without segregation. I will put forward this proposal to DMA so that much of the segregation work will be saved and labour will be utilised for other work,” said Raut.
Councillor Nilesh Navelkar, in his comment, said, “We had decided during the recent council meeting that first there will be inspection of this plant and then there will be further decision taken on this issue.”
