Vasco’s most congested road needs attention

The road leading from Tilak Maidan to the St Andrew Church junction is by far the most congested road in the Port Town. Several accidents have taken place on this road. There are three roads converging at one point. There are three schools and a college in close proximity. There is also St Andrew’s Church along this road. The scene during rush hour is absolutely chaotic. A lone policeman is deputed to control the traffic along this road. Something needs to be done by the authorities concerned to control the traffic along this road.
Here are some suggestions to ease traffic and improve safety on this road. 1. Declare both the roads opposite St Andrew’s Church as “No Parking Zones” and see that the road-users strictly adhere to this rule. 2. Have several “Zebra Crossings” all along the route. 3. Have more traffic cops to control the traffic here. 4. Reduce the width of the two gardens that bifurcate the roads so that the width of the roads can be increased. 5. A by-pass along the two roads opposite the church would solve all the problems along the road as the students and the parishioners who attend will then be able to cross the road along this by-pass. 6. Alternatively, build a foot-bridge for pedestrians.
