Velim attack accused made to sign bail bonds

MARGAO: Even as Advocate Rajeev Gomes mentioned in open court that the government is thinking of withdrawing the case against the accused in the 2012 Velim church raid case, those who appeared before JMFC Pooja Kavlekar on Monday were asked to apply for a bail bond of Rs 10,000 each.

Fresh summons were also ordered to be sent to those who remained absent and the matter has been kept for their appearance on
October 5.
There was anger among the accused, who all claim they have been wrongly accused. Former Assolna parish priest Fr Lucio Dias, also an accused and now the Episcopal Vicar of South Goa, has been urged to speak to the Archbishop for the Church’s intervention in the matter.
