MAPUSA: A team, under the supervision of Bardez Deputy Collector Kapil Phadte, on Friday conducted a surprise drive on the Friday Mapusa Market and booked vendors and shoppers for not wearing mandatory face masks.
During the surprise drive, it was learnt that COVID norms were not followed by the vendors and customers as they were found without mask as well as violating the social distancing norms.
A team consisting of Awal Karkun and staff of Deputy Collector I and two police constables booked around 45 people, including vendors and shoppers for not wearing face masks and imposed fine of Rs 200.
Deputy Collector Bardez I Kapil Phadte said, “We have conducted a surprise drive in Mapusa market to check on COVID violations and fined violators for not wearing face masks. Such surprise raids will continue to crack down on the violators.” Phadte further appealed people to follow SOPs including wearing of masks, social distancing, using sanitisers and others to contain the spread of virus.
