A couple who had rented a bike went to return it at the Panjim bus stand, where they were asked to pay an additional Rs 200. The couple questioned the extra charge, maintaining that they had returned the bike on time. A verbal altercation ensued, which quickly escalated into a physical scuffle. The man, who claims to be the General Secretary of the Congress party from Hyderabad, was allegedly assaulted by a group of men. He sustained head injuries and was shifted to GMC for treatment. According to the victim, his pregnant wife was also assaulted during the incident, causing swelling on her cheek.
