MARGAO: A Verna local on Monday assaulted and threatened a woman with dire consequences before stealing a bag containing Rs 64,250, when she parked her scooter near her office in Margao.
The woman claimed that the accused person followed her from Verna.
Margao Police based on the complaint has registered an offence under Section 394 and Section 506 (ii) for voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery and also for threatening her with dire consequences.
According to the complaint lodged by the woman, with the Margao police between 7.30 am and 8 am, the accused one Santano Fernandes, a resident of Verna followed her in his car while she was travelling to her office on her scooter. When the woman reached the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, the alleged accused dashed his car against her scooter and continued following her.
When she parked her scooter in the parking lot near her office, the alleged accused forcefully opened the dickey of her scooter and when she tried to stop him, he assaulted and pushed her and stole a bag containing Rs 64,250, which she had kept in her scooter dickey and threatened her with dire consequences. The alleged accused later ran away from the spot along with his car.
Police are conducting further investigation.
