VASCO: The Verna police on Saturday launched community policing programme and held meetings with Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch, Panch members Sancoale, Cortalim, Verna, Nagoa, Cansaulim, Velsao Panchayats besides senior citizens living within jurisdiction of Verna police station and heard their grievances.
Panchayat members and senior citizens requested for increased police patrolling, tenants verification and deployment of traffic police at major junctions under Verna police station. 
According to Verna PI Uday Parab, the intention behind holding such public grievances meeting was to take note of important issues faced by the people, suggestions from them on improvising policing etc.
Parab said that people raised issues of illegal vehicle parking at MES College junction at Zuarinagar, deployment of traffic police at MES college, at Fr Agnel Ashram in Nuvem, need for strict enforcement of tenants verification, and intensifying police patrolling in certain areas.
“We have started community policing program with the intention to connect with people. This was our first meeting which reminded successful and similar meetings will be held in future,” Parab told Herald.
