PANJIM: With three developmental projects in hand, the Imagine Panjim Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) has called for a meeting of city residents to give their views on the upcoming works comprising the beautification and pedestrianization of Café Bhonsle Square, redevelopment of Dona Paula View Point with the pedestrianization of the approach road and the parking policy for Panjim.
“IPSCDL is in the process of redeveloping the beautification and pedestrianization of Café Bhonsle Square, redevelopment of Dona Paula View Pont with the pedestrianization of the approach road and the parking policy for Panjim. In view of the same, IPSCDL shall be organizing a series of citizen consultation engagements for these city-wide interventions,” read a public consultation notice issued by the agency’s Managing Director and CEO Swayandipta Pal Chaudhari on Tuesday.
The meet for each of the three works has been arranged at its office at Adil Shah Palace, Old Secretariat from November 14-16 at 6pm with citizens urged to give their feedback and suggestions.
As per the proposal for the Café Bhonsle Square, approximately 3,267 square meters of the street will be turned into a ‘traffic-free pedestrian square’. Additionally, part of three roads connecting to the square, namely the Cine Nacional road, Praca de Igreja and MG Road near the Garcia de Orta will be made two-way; however many citizens raised concern about parking and maintenance of the area.
On the parking woes in the capital, the IPSCDL recently drafted parking policy to manage and efficiently handle parking spaces while also promote sustainable public transport options. During its survey, the agency experts discovered that safe paid parking lots are underutilized while free parking spaces are over-utilized. The draft, PSCDL had stated will be open for public consultation to thereafter frame masterplan for parking in the heavily congested Panjim city.
The third project on the redevelopment of Dona Paula jetty, the popular visitors spot has been partially closed for public access from November 5 in view of the upcoming work.
