Vijai Sardesai Visits Fatorda Old Age Home, Questions Inauguration Snub and Criticises Tata Power Proposal

Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Thursday visited the recently renovated Old Age Home in Fatorda, a day after its inauguration, and distributed sweets and fruits to the inmates.

Addressing the media during his visit, Sardesai alleged that the state government had overlooked the fact that the facility is located in Fatorda and claimed he was not invited to the inauguration ceremony despite representing the constituency.

The MLA said the old age home was initially renovated during his tenure as a minister using Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. He questioned why the facility was being projected as being located in Margao instead of Fatorda, asserting that its actual location should be correctly acknowledged.

Sardesai also raised concerns over reports suggesting that Goa’s electricity infrastructure could be handed over to Tata Power. He argued that the state government had already invested crores of rupees in upgrading the infrastructure of the Electricity Department and questioned the rationale behind the proposed move.

He further claimed that the Chief Engineer of the Electricity Department had opposed the proposal and called on the Chief Minister and the Power Minister to clarify the government’s position on the issue.

The remarks come amid ongoing political debate over infrastructure projects and public sector administration in Goa.
