Villagers in Chandor-Cavorim rally for extended time to shape Agriculture Policy

CHANDOR: The special Gram Sabha of Chandor-Cavorim on Tuesday strongly demanded that the government extend the time given to submit suggestions for the proposed Agriculture Policy for Goa.

Additionally, a seven-member committee was constituted to collect suggestions from the people.

Furthermore, the gram sabha felicitated villagers who have served in the armed or police forces and recognised freedom fighters from the community whose names will be inscribed on a plaque.

Initially, the villagers resolved that the government should provide more time for submitting suggestions for the proposed Agriculture Policy. They highlighted the lack of crucial data, such as cultivated land and crops, as a reason for the request. To gather public input for the policy, a seven-member committee was formed, including VDC convenor Julio D’Silva, Comunidade member Tiago da Silva, progressive farmer Milton Gomes, dairy farmer Nancy Antao, former Union government employee Irwin Antao, lady farmer Bella Cardoso, and local farmer Agnelo Fernandes.
