MARGAO: After the outbreak of Covid-19 and the Government of India and other Gulf countries issuing a moratorium on travelling the return of many Goans working abroad has affected the wedding season in the State.

Three youth who had planned their wedding in April are not only forced to cancel their weddings but neither can they plan a future date as there is still an uncertainty on when the moratorium will be lifted.
Speaking to Herald, Chari family who had a wedding lined up in April said they have already distributed invitation cards to invitees but as there is no confirmation on when the air travel from Kuwait will begin they have stopped distribution more invitation cards.
The head of the Chari family said they have already paid advance money for the wedding hall and catering service. He said the caterers have agreed to adjust to a new wedding date. He however said that they cannot fix a new date till the travel restricts are removed.
Similarly another family is also in a fix. Their son who is a seaman was supposed to get married in April and was to return to Goa. He too is caught up due to the travel ban. The family said that their son informed them that he has been kept in a hotel near the airport at Muscat, along with his co-workers and will be sent to India once the travel restrictions are withdrawn.
A member of the Naik family from Sanvordem who was working in London has to give up his job as there is restriction to travel back to the United Kingdom.
While Kuwait has completely stopped people from stepping outside, Oman has shut down all its churches, mosques and temples and is asking people to fill forms revealing their entire travel history. The restrictions to travel out of the country will remain in force till April 15.
