PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane directed the Health Department to form a task force in the wake of coronavirus scare originating from China.
In his tweet late Sunday night, Rane said, “I have given instructions to form a task force with immediate effect to monitor any cases of #coronavirus in the state of Goa. All the activities will be closely monitored & reported to the Chief Secretary. The task force will work on the guidelines laid down by the @MoHFW_INDIA.”
Dozens of people in China have been killed due to this virus while it has spread to some of the countries too.
On Friday, in a health advisory, the department advised travellers to China to follow simple public health measures at all times.
“Travellers are requested to observe good personal hygiene, practice frequent hand washing with soap, follow respiratory etiquettes by covering the mouth during coughing or sneezing, avoid close contact with people who are unwell or showing symptoms of illness, such as cough, runny nose etc, avoid contact with live animals and consumption of raw and undercooked meat, avoid travel to farms, live animal markets or where animals are slaughtered, wear mask if you have respiratory symptoms such as cough or runny nose. People should not spit in public, not to take medicine without consulting the doctors,” it said.
With this worrying scenario, Goa government is also giving a second thought over inviting China delegation to Goa, which was expected to arrive in February (subject to government approval to a proposal) to promote Goa Tourism back in its country.
