PANJIM: The BJP’s maverick, St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh, has been reappointed as Chairman of Kala Academy, just a year after being stripped of the post.
Raja Khedekar is vice chairman and members include Tomazinho Cardozo (who was on the advisory committee earlier), Ganpat Kalangutkar, Ashwini Zambaulikar, Vasudeo Korgaonkar and Priti Fulari.
It may be recalled that in February 2014, Wagh was stripped of the posts of chairman of Kala Academy and vice-chairman of the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG). Art and Culture Minister Dayanand Mandrekar took over as Kala Academy chairman, while ESG vice chairmanship went to former Fatorda MLA, Damu Naik.
Wagh was removed after he criticised the government of then chief minister Manohar Parrikar on a wide range of issues and his alleged assault by members of his own party.
There was even speculation that Wagh could be the Congress candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha election from the North Goa constituency.
After his removal Wagh had dared the BJP to remove him from the party.
