PANJIM: The walk-in vaccination for pregnant women will start in the State from Friday, July 9.
Directorate of Health Services, State Immunisation Programme, Chief Medical Officer Dr Rajendra Borkar said that pregnant woman can visit their respective centres and get vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to Dr Borkar, pregnant woman will also be counselled at every centre about the benefits of vaccination and whatever risks about vaccination. As per the information and research it has been found that benefits out way the risks that are involved. Vaccination in pregnant woman per say will not prevent infection in her and it might happen but if without vaccination she gets infected then the consequences of this disease in pregnancy may be worse than normal individual getting infected.
Dr Borkar further announced Indian citizens who do not have any of the prescribed identity cards and citizens from Nepal will be vaccinated on Sunday, July 11, at T B Hospital, Margao. More such camps will be set up in South Goa District and North Goa District for such people.
