Water connections of 30 Bicholim families restored

BICHOLIM: The water connections of 30 families from Bordem in Bicholim were restored on Friday following the direction from Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
The water supply to the 30 families was disconnected on Wednesday by Bicholim Primary Health (PHC) authorities for discharging waste water into storm water drains.
Following this, the affected families approached former BMC deputy chairman Bhagwan Harmalkar, who, on behalf of the locals, met Rane and submitted a memorandum requesting him to give some time to the locals to adopt precautionary measures. Following the request from the locals, Rane directed PHC to get all the disconnected water connections restored.
Dhanraj Malgaonkar from Bordem said that BMC authorities had assured them to help for adopting precautionary measures such as building soak pit.
“Since we were assured help by municipal authorities, we were waiting for the same, which has not come till date,” he said.
Gokuldas Harmalkar, another local, said that had the PHC given them some more time, they would have made the arrangements.
Bhagwan said that BMC did not initiate any action to help the locals due to which the water supply was disconnected.
