PONDA: With no solution in sight to the water crisis affecting Curti’s Prabhu Nagar, the residents on Sunday filed a complaint at Ponda Police Station, to ascertain the reason behind the water scarcity in their area.

The residents of Prabhu Nagar complained that they have been hit hard on account of the water crisis during summer.
The locals accompanied by Dr Ketan Bhatikar said, “It is the duty of the government to provide us with clean drinking water. During students’ exams, we are compelled to rely on packaged water for drinking purposes and also forced to hire tankers for cooking and other purposes. At times we have to depend on others to meet our daily water needs and are forced to use the public toilet at the bus stand.”
Later, the locals met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at his Sankhali residence where he assured them that the problem will be solved by Monday.
It may be recalled that the residents had gheraoed PWD AE Kashinath Saraf during their protest at the PWD office at Daag-Ponda and had threatened to stage a rasta roko if water supply was not restored.
The supply was restored for some time, but the problem continued.
The locals from Bethora also marched to the PWD office over the water crisis in their area.
