Water pipeline bursts at Borim, repair work underway

Locals demand replacement of weathered pipelines which breach and burst frequently

BORIM: The main 750 mm water pipeline which supplies water to the Borim panchayat area burst in the wee hours of Wednesday leading to wastage of water at large quantities.

The incidents of old water pipelines bursting or breaching at several points has become a frequent scenario in Borim which is causing inconvenience to the locals who have demanded for the immediate replacements of these weathered pipelines. 

The Ponda PWD (water division) workers took the repairing work, which carried on until late night.

Water Department Executive Engineer Nivrutti Parsekar, assistant engineer Yashwant Mapari, junior engineer Kashinath Saraf, main pipeline’s supervisor Dipak Gaude, Borim branch supervisor Rupesh Naik Bhamaikar and other workers were at the site working to restore the water supply.
