MARGAO: Citizens of Margao complained of unsanitary conditions in the Sulabh toilets in the city on Wednesday for want of water supply.
While the functioning of the toilet block at the old bus stand was maintained by water supplied via tankers, the toilet block at the pick-up stand and the Gandhi market were shut down for lack of water.
A Sulabh official blamed the PWD for the water shortage at the toilets in the commercial capital. “We cannot be blamed for the water supply problem. We do not know why the PWD has not supplied water to our toilets,” the official said, adding that there’s no problem over the payment of water dues to the PWD.
Users, however, slammed the authorities for the state of affairs, demanding to know how the people are supposed to answer nature’s call when the toilets are shut down for want of water. The sulabh official, however, pointed that the pick-up stand toilet is closed to empty the septic tank since it was giving some problems. “As far as the Gandhi market toilet is concerned, we have no idea why the PWD water supply was stopped to the toilet,” the official added.
