MAPUSA: A delegation of residents from Mapusa along with the Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) party workers on Wednesday marched to the office of the PWD Assistant Engineer, Subhash Belgaonkar sought an explanation on the water shortage for the last few months.
The delegation brought to the notice of the AE that they are suffering due to water shortage especially in Khorlim, Ansabhat and surrounding areas and demanded an answer.
The gathering vented their frustration and argued with the official over the water shortage which has caused inconvenience to the people.
The Assistant Engineer clarified that the water shortage and dirty water supply occurred due to some issues at the Assonora Water Treatment plant which would be rectified soon.
A Goa Suraksha Manch member accused the AE of giving false excuses and assurances to the people that this is a fault at the Assonora Water Treatment Plant.
“The big hotels and restaurants in the town are receiving regular water but the common man is deprived of this basic amenity. Some wards have not been getting regular water supply for the last eight days while the others for nearly three to four months,” claimed the Goa Suraksha Manch member.
It may be recalled that on Friday a delegation from the North Goa District Congress Block Committee along with party workers confronted the Mapusa PWD AE over the water issue.
The AE had assured to provide regular water supply to the residents within eight days.
