MAPUSA: The Director of Adventure Breaks Ashwin Tombat revealed that the marathon will not be held on August 18 and will be postponed to a later date.
Biodiversity experts have urged that the ‘Goa Trail Run’ should not be held as it is right in the middle of the breeding season for certain birds and snakes that are indigenous to the Socorro Plateau and which lay their eggs on the ground.
“We have decided to postpone the Goa Trail Run and are very sorry for the inconvenience we are causing to the participants. It breaks our hearts too, but we feel the cause of the earth takes priority. The new dates will be announced in due course of time. We will give all participants a full refund,” said Tombat in a statement released.
