PONDA: PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said on Sunday that the water problems of Tiswadi and Ponda talukas would be solved after the commissioning of the 27 MLD treatment plant at Opa, which was nearing completion and would be inaugurated soon.
The minister was addressing a foundation stone laying function at Querim for a water storage tank.
He said that the government was committed to providing 24-hour water to the people of Goa and that it was working towards that end.
He said out of the 27 MLD at OPA, 15 MLD would be supplied to Tiswadi, 5 MLD to Priol and the rest to Ponda and other places.
“The 50 MLD treatment plant at Shiroda will be commissioned in June this year and thereafter Ponda will get additional 10 MLD surplus water,” he informed.
On the 25 MLD Ganjem Water treatment plant, he said that the work on the same was halted due to land acquisition problems caused by the Land Reform Act enacted by the Centre and that the government was trying to solve the issue.
Priol MLA Govind Gaude said that his effort was to make Querim and his Priol constituency tanker free.
