PANJIM: The Calangute Police arrested a person from West Bengal for allegedly stealing four gold biscuits from the house of a 62-year-old woman from Saipem, Candolim.
The accused has been identified as Eyakub Mandal. According to the police, one Nancy Dias, resident of Saipem, Candolim, lodged a complaint in April this year stating that the accused, who was working with her as a servant, committed theft of four gold biscuits from her flat and fled.
The Calangute Police registered a case under Section 381 and began investigations. During the course of investigations, it was revealed that the accused person is in West Bengal.
A team of Calangute Police proceeded to West Bengal and traced the accused person at Panitara village in Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal, and recovered part of stolen property i.e. three gold biscuits weighing 300 gms worth Rs 25 lakh.
