PANJIM: MGP on Saturday said the party would not align with the BJP after the elections even if the National party effects a change in the leadership.
“Before we split with BJP, we had put a condition that they should announce their chief ministerial face in advance, prior to the polls, which they have failed to do,” MGP General Secretary Lavoo Mamledar said.
Reacting to the statement made by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari that a central leader from Goa may head the council of ministers after the Assembly elections in Goa, Mamledar said, “They are fooling the people of Goa just for the sake of elections that the chief minister post election would be Parrikar.”
“We have nothing to do with what BJP will do whether they are bringing Manohar Parrikar as their chief minister or not. MGP and its allies are all set to form the next government,” Mamledar said.
He said that BJP in Goa has become so weak that they don’t trust their own candidates and have to get a leader from the centre.
Meanwhile, MGP announced its second list of candidates in five constituencies including Prakash Naik (St Cruz), Mahesh Satelkar (Aldona), Rajesh Amonkar (Porvorim), Jayesh Naik (Margao) and Suman Sharma (Cortalim).
