While the traffic scenario is craving for attention from the authorities, nothing has been heard of the South Goa District Traffic Coordination Committee – a panel headed by the district collector and comprising officials heading different agencies and public-spirited citizens.
Leave aside the inspections, this district panel used to hold along with traffic, Municipal and district officials, former members of the committee say they have not heard anything of the coordination panel in recent times.
Says MARG Convenor Gurunath Kelekar, “Citizens and officials used to often meet and discuss the traffic scenario and suggest improvements. The traffic situation was reviewed periodically and the agencies questioned over the implementation. But, such an exercise has not been heard off in recent times.”
