Will not allow BJP govt to bulldoze democracy, says Vijai

MARGAO: Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Vijai Sardesai speaking to reporters on the united opposition’s request to adjourn the Budget Session after the results of municipality polls, said, “The government is least interested in the Code of Conduct or electoral protocols, and is simply running away from responsibility.”

Vijai Sardesai said he and the opposition, united as Team Goa, have urged the government to pass the budget and then adjourn the session to the day after the results of the municipal elections. Citing the Model Code of Conduct, Sardesai said otherwise these moves will “violate the Code and alter the level playing field.”

Sardesai lambasted the government for not considering their request saying, “They have no respect for anything, this government is determined to bulldoze democracy. This government is a government of certified cheats, and despite the Supreme Court ruling, the government has not learnt its lesson.”

Vijai said “The opposition is strongly united as Team Goa, and stands firm to execute the will of the people to oust this anti-Goan, anti-democratic BJP government.”

The GFP chief alleged that it is no surprise that “the way the government is going it will be digging its own political grave.”

Sardesai said Pramod Sawant is going against the wish and voice of the people on all matters that pertain to the State.  He said “The people are utterly dissatisfied with the amateurish COVID-19 management, lack of jobs, the shattered economy, and the consistent attacks on democracy. Sawant is running Goa to the ground.”

“The state legislative department has no interest in working; the speaker’s office has no interest in working; their only activity is continued assault on our democratic system. They are out to kill democracy, and “where will that take Goa and us” Vijai asked.
