MARGAO: The locals of Telaulim village have criticized the PWD and State Electricity Department for their lack of coordination and demanded that the government immediately takes steps to ensure that the streetlights on the Western Bypass stretch passing through their village are functional.
This was one of the key issues discussed at the Telaulim village Gram Sabha.
The locals pointed out that due to the failure of the departments concerned, particularly the PWD, commuters are dumping garbage along the highway when it is dark, and the absence of illumination helps the culprits get away with this.
The villagers also complained about how they are affected by this garbage nuisance and opined that once the streetlights start functioning, commuters and other passersby will be deterred from littering the stretch.
Another major issue that was discussed at the gram sabha was that of the ponds and other water bodies in
the village drying up due to
the prevailing dry weather
conditions.
The gram sabha unanimously resolved that the panchayat should carry out the desilting of these ponds and water bodies.
The locals further lamented that cattle are also suffering due to this issue and that they are unable to cool off in these water bodies, as they usually do during the summer season.
