MARGAO: Labour and Employment Minister Avertano Furtado on Monday informed that all panchayats will be brought under e-governance within the next 2 months, which will be connected to various offices and the Directorate of Panchayats.
Addressing the 70th Independence Day celebration at Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao, he said, “Birth and death certificates, NOCs, Form 18 etc. payment of taxes and other dues will be available online.”
“Government is committed to provide excellent service to all to reduce the hardship of visiting government offices and save time. Data Centre set up at the cost of Rs 3 crore will start functioning within 3 months and various certificates at mamlatdar offices will be available online,” he said.
“The GST bill seen as a single biggest tax reform in a long time and our government welcomes One Nation One Tax reform and assures that GST will be implemented by ratifying the constitutional amendment bill in Goa at the earliest. We are sure that Goa will benefit from GST through higher economic growth and better revenue collection,” Avertano further said.
Speaking further, he said the government will implement the 7th Pay Commission for its employees with effect from January 1, 2016 and the notification will be issued soon.
Furtado said, “The arrears of January 2016 to October 2016 will be credited in Provident Fund and the November salary will be paid as per the recommendation of 7th pay commission for which due budgetary provision has been made, which works out to an additional burden of Rs 72 crore per month.”
“Government has proposed to construct ultra-modern wholesale fish Market at Margao besides a ropeway project from Panjim to Reis Magos at a cost of Rs 190 crore on PPP model is in the pipeline. Central Government has already sanctioned Rs 200 crore for tourism development and expects another Rs 350 crore in this year as Goa has become one of the best tourist destinations,” he said.
On the much delayed District Hospital project, he said, “Government has concentrated in expediting the work to complete the South Goa Hospital at Margao, besides the work on seven hospitals in Goa has been completed. The work on ten-bedded hospital at Navelim is nearing completion and will operational by yearend,” Avertano added.
“Our Government has shown its commitment by increasing the budgetary provision apart from initiating various measures to improve and build new infrastructure despite the fact that there was 25% revenue loss due to mining closure, ” he said.
“Government was dedicated to the promises and has delivered various people-oriented schemes like Griha Aadhaar, DSSY, Ladli Laxmi, DDSSY and reduction of VAT on petrol continued,” Avertano claimed.
Earlier, a flag hoisting coupled by the march past of police and school students from different parts of South Goa was held.
Various activities such as patriotic singing competition and others were organised on the occasion.
