A 21-year-old woman died after falling more than 130 feet during a bungee jump in Brazil, allegedly because the safety rope had not been attached before she was released from a bridge. The victim, identified as Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, was participating in an adventure activity at Skeleton Bridge in Sao Paulo state when the tragedy occurred.
Videos from the scene reportedly show staff members escorting her to the edge of the bridge before releasing her. Moments later, witnesses realised something was wrong and began shouting that the rope had not been connected. Maria plunged into the ravine below, leaving onlookers horrified.

Emergency responders rushed to the location but were unable to save her. Her body was later taken to the Legal Medical Institute for examination.
The incident has gained widespread attention because Maria had shared photos from the site shortly before the jump. In a social media post, she jokingly asked who had allowed her to jump off a bridge.
Authorities arrested six people at the scene and launched a criminal investigation. Officials are examining whether safety protocols were ignored and if those responsible for organising the activity could face charges.
