Woman survives after a ‘plunge’ into Selaulim Dam

Video goes viral on social media

SANGUEM: A middle-aged woman was lucky to survive from the jaws of death while allegedly attempting to commit suicide at the Selaulim Dam on Sunday.
The woman had reportedly gone to visit the Selaulim Dam along with her minor daughter and was at the spillway when she allegedly made attempts to jump into the water.
A video to this effect has gone viral on social media since late Sunday evening.
Incidentally, the visitors, made umpteen requests to the woman not to jump as it would lead to her death and bring bad repute to the Selaulim Dam. However, despite requests, the lady on the contrary started arguing as to what harm it would cause to them if she commits suicide.
The woman later sat on the side wall of the dam facing the botanical garden and in a couple of minutes jumped over the other side of the dam.
She went rolling on the slope several times before falling unconscious at the foot of the dam area. However, due to thick grass cover in the area the woman escaped with minor injuries.
Immediately, the Sanguem Police team rushed to the site and took the woman to the Sanguem PHC for treatment. Ironically, with no lady constable available, the woman had to be carried by the male policemen on duty with the help of some onlookers due to emergency.
At the Sanguem PHC, the woman allegedly informed the policemen of having slipped while being seated on the side wall leading to her fall.
Sources informed that the woman was then reportedly taken home from the Sanguem PHC by her husband.
