QUEPEM: Breakdown of a water pipeline at Cacumoddi – Xeldem has caused a major headache to the locals of Xeldem panchayat as their water supply has stopped. They have blamed the ‘carelessness on the part of the irresponsible authorities’ for not attending to the work properly that led to the issue and pointed out that the work of laying a new pipeline damaged the existing main water pipeline.
Locals pointed out that on Tuesday, work on the new pipeline was allegedly underway without the presence of any project engineer or contractor or other professionals and that the work was being carried out by labourers sans guidance.
When a local Mary Fernandes, tried inquiring with the labourers, they had no reply, and this also frustrated the locals given the lack of clarity about the problem and more importantly when it could be resolved. Locals feared that there may not be any water on Wednesday even due to this issue.
Another local Henry Fernandes slammed the lack of planning and improper execution and demanded that PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar take serious action against those who were responsible for this incident.
