MARGAO: Karnataka Commercial and Industrial Corporation (KCIC), the beach cleaning agency of the Tourism Department, has been kept mighty busy these last few days with the task of clearing garbage across many beaches all over Goa. 37 beaches have been cleaned by the agency.

This being the peak tourist season in Goa, especially for Christmas and New Year celebrations, hordes of tourists have flocked to the beaches. The garbage left behind on the beaches has been cleared off by KCIC beach cleaning staff.
The staff has collected and segregated approx 10,000 kgs of dry garbage and approx 20,000 kgs of wet garbage in the last few days from the beaches of North and South Goa. This garbage has been transported to GWMC for final disposal, as per the rules in force.
KCIC has endeavored to maintain cleanliness on the beaches, not only during the tourist season but throughout the year as well. KCIC has also been associated with conducting beach cleaning drives, the attempt being to create awareness of proper segregation and proper disposal of garbage.
