Youth foils burglary in Chorao temple

An alert youth foiled a burglary at the Vishnu Temple in Saude-Chorao on Saturday.

CHORAO: An alert youth foiled a burglary at the Vishnu Temple in Saude-Chorao on Saturday.

According to Police Inspector Manoj Mardolkar and Temple president Sadanad Vaigankar, the incident took place at about 8.40 am, when a man from Deulvadda in Dhargal-Pernem broke open a donation box from the temple and stole cash of Rs 5559.

The burglar tried to flee from the temple by was spotted by youth, Pradeep Parsekar, who chased him for about 1 km before catching the burglar.

Locals then gave the burglar a thrashing, before handing him over to police. The burglar was later admitted to hospital for medical treatment.

According to PI Mardolkar, the burglar is a habitual offender and was even convicted by the court.

The Old Goa Police has plans to reward Pradeep Parsekar for his brave act in nabbing the burglar.
