Story: Neglecting her newborn child, Shirley (Jessica) is totally engrossed in her commitments with a private finance company. Her husband, Terence (Caziton de Cacora),urges her to give up her job, but to no avail. What will be the end result?
Review:
Instead of giving her attention to her newborn child, Shirley is more involved with varied tasks in a finance company. As her husband serves in a factory, Terence’s aged father Anton (Anthony San) comes to their rescue and takes the initiative to serve as a caretaker to the child.
But despite Anton’s ill health and voluntary service at home, Shirley ridicules her father-in-law and is never satisfied with the help that she receives from him. Finally,Raskin (Vishal Gauns), a non-Goan, steps in along with a teenage girl, Isabel (Flafe), who serves as a maid.
ButRaskin’s intentions are only to amass money at the cost of Isabel. He creates false stories to gather money from Terence and Shirley and spends it on illegal businesses.
When Raskin does not get what he expects from the family, what does he do? When disaster strikes in the family, who regrets their actions? Who is the culprit and who is made the scapegoat? How does the truth come to light?
Comedian Ambe’stiatr ‘Hanvani Tum’ focuses on people investing in private finance companies and its dire consequences. It also throws light on child labour and exploitation. It’s a well scripted tiatr, with sleek direction, but the title could have been different.
Caziton de Cacora and Jessica form a perfect couple on stage and execute their characters with ease. Anthony San is apt as the ailing father and wins sympathy from the audience. Flafe as a teenager is simple in her act and dialogue delivery. Peter de Vasco does justice to his double role. But among all the artistes, Vishal Gauns again stands tall in his unique character and delivers in style.
In the comic acts, Jimmy, Succor, Aplon and comedian Ambe entertain with a good dose of laughter. Aplon makes entries in a different avatars, proving her calibre.
In the category of songs, Caziton renders the opening chorus, followed by solos by Xavier Gomes, A M Pacheco, Lawry, Anthony San, Francis de Tuem, Marcus Vaz, Flafe, Wincliff and Lawrence, duet by Caziton and Flafe, duo by Jessica and Aplon, quartet by Caziton, Jimmy, Wincliff and Lawrence. A solo by Francis de Tuem and a trio by Lawry, Jessica and Francis de Tuem receive encores.
