Connie M’s 7th audio album ‘Silver Golden Jubilee’ has 11 songs on varied themes, all composed and sung by the noted singer of the Konkani stage. The opening song ‘Vhoddponn’ speaks about riches and the pride that sets in due to amassment of wealth. “Health is the greatest wealth. Riches and pride will not take you anywhere. You cannot gain peace of mind with all your riches, and health cannot be obtained with money,” cautions the singer.
The following song, ‘Apounnem’, speaks about the valuable vocation to priesthood. With enough knowledge, one may become an engineer and doctor, but call to priesthood comes from God. While throwing light on martyrdom of several priests, he says priests are not God, as humans they can fall and they deserve our appreciation and support through prayer.
‘Kolakarak Mann’, another solo, throws light on the noble profession of artistes on stage and screen. He speaks about tiatrists, musicians who work tirelessly on and off stage. Directors, singers, actors deserve appreciation for live performances and sacrifices, he adds.
The title song ‘Silver…Golden Jubilee’ speaks about those couples who have achieved a milestone in their lives and the applause they deserve for their supreme sacrifices and faithfulness towards each other.
The song ‘Xetam and Bhattam’ is all about preserving ancestral properties for posterity. “Our ancestors would toil in fields and come to other’s assistance. Today, due to expensive labour, fields have either been abandoned or sold. Consequently, sight of fields is a rarity and sicknesses have multiplied,” he opines.
The concluding songs in the album throw light on the dreaded disease diabetes, death, brotherly relations and love towards the mother by her offspring.
Although all the songs have unique themes with messages wrapped around them, mere solos do not provide a variety to the listener, making the album rather monotonous.
Musicians Dexter, Cris, Sergi, Rohan and John have provided good music to all the songs, thus elevating the spirit of the listener. The album has been recorded at Magic Touch, Margao by Cris Correia.
