PANJIM: 2nd IRBn got the better of GRP 5-4 via tie-breaker in the finals to emerge champions in 2nd Inter District/Unit football tournament organised by Goa Police Sports Cell, at PHQ ground, Panjim, on Thursday.
Both the teams were locked 2-2 draw at the end of regulation time with the goals coming from Mohan Parb, Swanand Naik for GRP while Sushant Gawas and Tushar Dessai netting for 2nd IRBn.
Abhijit Fadte of 2nd IRBN was adjudged as the best defender, Swanand Naik of GRP bagged the best scorer prize while Umesh Khot was adjudged as the best goalkeeper.
North, South Districts, 1st IRBn Goa, 2nd IRBn Goa, GRP Altinho, Coastal Security, CID, Traffic units, QRT (Eagle Commandos) PTS, DGP Reserve, PHQ, SPCR and other units participated.
DGP T N Mohan gave away the trophies.
Earlier, Vijay Singh (IPS) welcomed the gathering. DIGs K K Vyas, Dr O P Mishra, Bhram Dutt; SP Arvind Gawas, Vishram Borkar and Shekar Prabhudessai and Dy SP (Sports) Vaman Tari were all present.
