FATORDA: Aaron Farias, Pradnya Caro, Rishan Shaikh and Urvi Surlakar, Goa’s rising talents starred to move into the higher categories in the All-Goa State Major Ranking Table Tennis Championship 2023-24, at the multipurpose stadium, Fatorda, on Saturday.
In boys U-17 section, Aaron Farias and Rishan Shaikh secured their places in the final after dominating performances in the semi-finals, setting the stage for an exciting showdown between these talented athletes.
Simultaneously, in the boys U-19 division, Aaron Farias and Rishan Shaikh once again demonstrated their prowess, emerging victorious in the semi-finals to earn their spots in the highly anticipated final clash.
As the championship unfolds with nail-biting matches and exceptional displays of skill, all eyes will be on the impending battles in the men’s category, where Goa’s numero uno Arvind Kumar and rising star Aaron Farias emerged as finalists after defeating formidable opponents in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, in the girls U-17 quarter-finals, Pradnya Caro, Neeza Kamat, Shreya Phadte, and Urvi Surlakar secured wins to advance to the semi-finals.
In engaging semi-final matches, Pradnya Caro and Urvi Surlakar emerged victorious, setting the stage for an eagerly anticipated final clash.
Similarly, in the girls U-19, Urvi Surlakar and Pradnya Caro displayed remarkable determination, securing their places in the finals with hard fought wins. Rising Margao girl Pradnya will eye a triple crown, having reached finals in girls U-15 category earlier.
The State championship is being organised by South Goa Table Tennis Council in collaboration with the Goa Table Tennis Association and the Sports Authority of Goa.
The finals of all the categories will be played on Sunday, from 4 pm.
