CURTORIM: Agxem SC defeated Batti SC 6-5 via tie-breaker to claim the Curtorim Veterans Cup trophy, at Curtorim Church ground, recently.
Batti SC opened their account in the 16th minute as Alberto Dias dribbled past Agxem SC defender Stanley Gomes and released a powerful shot which went straight into the goal making it 1-0.
In the second half Agxem SC mounted pressure and succeeded as Joel Martins equalised in the 59th minute with the neat placement of the ball into the net after receiving pass from Joshly Gomes. The scores were levelled at the full time 1-1.
In the resultant tie-breaker Agxem won by 6-5.
Other individual prizes for the Best goalkeeper was awarded to Agnelo Gomes of Agxem, Best defender to Joel Martins of Agxem, Best Midfielder to Agnelo Martins of Agxem, Best Striker to James Fernandes of Batti, First Scorer to Albert Dias of Batti, Man of the Match to Mackroy Peixote of Batti, MLA, Alexio Reginald Lourenco was the Chief Guest, while Zilla Member, Clefasio Dias was guest of Honour, and others present were GFA Executive member, Arnaldo Costa, Rev. Fr. Luis Pinto Lourenco, Shalom Sardinha, Bruno Lourenco and Cassy Luis.
President of Curtorim Veterans, Valentinho Sequiera gave the welcome speech and Treasurer, Seby Pereira proposed the vote of thanks.
