PANJIM: FC Goa and Dempo SC midfield duo of Romeo Fernandes and Mandar Rao Dessai have been issued show cause notices by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for not turning up for the ongoing national camp which kicked off their SAFF Cup campaign on Friday against Sri Lanka.
The duo contractual obligations with FC Goa ended December 20 after they finished runners-up of the Hero ISL against Chennaiyin FC and were expected to report to the national camp in Kerala the following day. However, the two players who played for the entire duration in the final chose not to travel for international duty.
“Prior to assessing penalties and sanctions against you and your club(s) and issuing the order, the AIFF would like to offer you an opportunity to provide an explanation to us which may be considered on your behalf,” read the show cause notice to the Dempo SC wingers.
The AIFF plans to take disciplinary action against Romeo and Mandar within the next week, if they fail to provide any substantial reason for their absence.
