CHINCHINIM: Albert Developers Merces defeated Manu XI, Curtorim 1-0 to move into the final of the CRC Chinchinim Women Cup football tournament, at CRC Chinchinim ground, on Monday.
Albert Developers striker Valianka D’Souza after dribbling past defenders Anica D’Souza and Aretha D’ Souza of Curtorim shot at the Mani XI goal but the shot was brilliantly saved by the Curtorim keeper Venessa D’Sa in the 6th minute.
At the other end, Curtorim midfielder Jossel Mascerenhas connected a well measured ball to Valany Rocha who took control of the ball and dribbled past Shilpa Bhakta from the defence line of Albert and shot from close range but Albert Developers keeper Annette D’Costa was equal to the task.
Minutes later, Curtorim through Leifa Carvalho’s long ranger failed to score in the 26th and 29th minutes. Valianaka D’Souza after dribbling past a couple of Curtorim defenders netted the match winner for Albert with an arrow bound shot which crushed into the nylons of Curtorim in the 30th minute.
Albert Developers Merces will now meet Models Panjim in the final on May 9.
