KAKODA: FC Siolim defeated Sporting Club of Davorlim 5-3 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of the Holy Cross Trophy in their 22nd all-Goa inter-village football tournament organised by Holy Cross Sports Club, Vodlemoll Kakoda in association with Guardian Angel Sports Club, at Vodlemol Kakoda ground, on Monday.
FC Siolim had the first chance of the match through Pipul Pednekar but the latter’s shot was saved by the Davorlim keeper Ashikesh Shetty in the 13th minute. Minutes later, Sporting Club of Davorlim through Agnelo Colaco should have netted but missed the Siolim target by whiskers in the 39th minute.
Sporting Club of Davorlim took the lead through Clifton Rebello’s snap shot in the 32nd minute but the joy was shot lived within four minutes as FC Siolim equalised through Sangam Pednekar’s placement. In the resultant tie-breaker, Sangam, Dalesh, Vipul and Sherwin scored for FC Siolim while Jose and Paxton scored for Davorlim.
