PANJIM: Albert Developers Merces defeated Bardez Veterans 3-1 to move into the semi-finals of the 3rd Quepem Veterans Seamen Cup played at Borimol Sport Complex ground, Quepem, on Saturday.
Both the teams dominated in the early proceedings but Albert Developers Merces led 2-0 in the first half. In the 5th minute, Albert Developers opened the account through Denis Cabral’s deft placement off an assist by Francis Dias.
Again in the 10th minute, Denis doubled the lead.
In the second half, Bardez Veterans tried to equalize and their striker Alwyn Fernandes pulled one back with a fine volley which gave no chance to the rival goalkeeper.
In the 28th minute, Denis completed his hat-trick with a powerful shot. Bardez Veterans gained a free-kick in the 32nd minute but Alexender Fernandes’ effort hit the cross bar and came back.
Later, Bardez went all out for an equaliser but Albert Developers Merces goalkeeper made fine saves.
