Panjim, March 13
Ponda Veterans will organise their All-India veterans football tournament at sports complex, Ponda from April 1 to 12.
Six outstation teams including Bombay Shooters, Air India (Mumbai), Kholapur Fighters (Kholapur), Bengal Tigers (West Bengal), Kholapur Police (Kholapur) and Chennai Super (Tamil Nadu) and eight teams from Goa will participate.
The total budget for the tournament is 5.30 lakhs, said Agnelo Fonseca. The winners will get Rs 50,000 while the runners-up will have to be content with Rs 30,000 and trophies.
Treasurer Jose Caldeira said, “We will felicitate some old players of Ponda Taluka. Football players of all the four constituencies comprising Shiroda, Priol, Madkai and Ponda will also be felicitated.’’
