Ambelim move into quarters

MARGAO: Ambelim Sports Club outplayed Parish Youth Nuvem 6-5 vie tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of 26th Super Soccer football tournament organized by United Boys of Colva, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Wednesday.

MARGAO: Ambelim Sports Club outplayed Parish Youth Nuvem 6-5 vie tie-breaker to move into the quarter-finals of 26th Super Soccer football tournament organized by United Boys of Colva, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Wednesday. Ambelim were leading 1-0 at the lemon break. 
Ambelim dominated the proceedings and in the very 7th minute scored when Donald Rocha’s curling free-kick settled into the rival nylons. Thereafter, Ambelim missed an opportunity in the 15th minute as Jade Colaco’s header went wide. Marvin Fernandes assisted. 
On the other hand, Parish Youth Nuvem in search of an equaliser missed a chance when Stephen Colaco’s header hit the cross piece of Ambelim.
Post resumption, Parish Youth Nuvem down with a goal regrouped with renewed ideas and equalised through Roland’s free kick. Ambelim defence in the 48th minute made an error by bring down Roland intentionally in the goal area. The referee awarded a freekick for Nuvem.
Parish Youth Nuvem also had their chance in the 57th minute. Myron Borges, after receiving a through pass from Roger Colaco, took a shot from the close range but it kissed the horizontal piece and went wide.
At the end of regulation time the scorecard read 1-1. In the resultant tie-breaker, Jade Colaco, Donald Rocha, Nial Cardoza, Marvin Fernandes and Blasco Fernandes were on target for Ambelim while Myron Borges, Roger Colaco, Shubert Colaco and Francisco Fernandes netted for Parish Youth Nuvem.
